About Me

Hello! I am a data engineer at Chevron and a recent PhD graduate (as of August 2022). I am also a first-generation college student with Colombian roots, and a person who stutters. My research currently focused on understanding the impact of the North Sea Dome on Lower to Middle Jurassic intervals of the North Sea. This work is supervised by Lorena Moscardelli and Charles Kerans.

My path as a geoscientist has been multidisciplinary. Prior to my time in Texas, I completed a MSc in Petroleum Engineering at the Technical University of Crete. My thesis focused on biomarker applications in oil characterization, supervised by Nikos Pasadakis. I graduated from Smith College in 2014 with a B.A. in Geosciences, and worked under the guidance of Sara Pruss on understanding ooid formation in San Salvador Island, the Bahamas. My love for geology and organic geochemistry has grown from my exposure to it’s diverse applications across different disciplines. To learn more about my skills and background, take a look at my CV/Resume page.

I am passionate about increasing diversity in STEM fields through mentoring and community outreach. To learn more, visit my Outreach page. I am also interested in effectively communicating science through data analytics and visualization. In my spare time, I usually enjoy participating in triathlons and exploring the world.

During unusual times like 2020, I used my time to learn Python and started to pivot more toward the Tech field. Being a keen learner, I also decided to enroll in Computer Science courses at Oregon State University.
